Name's Andy - been using the online handle of Ramah since the halcyon days of playing Motorcross Madness on Wireplay.

I got into the strange(ish) hobby of creating maps of fantasy worlds after I realised I needed one for myself for the story I've been writing for, oh, too long.

Since then I've created several as commissions, usually for people in, or hoping to get into, the RPG industry.

If you need to commission a map then feel free to send me a note through DA.

How do I contact you for commission work?
Hi... may I ask you what software do you use to draw your maps?
Photoshop CS and a Wacom Bamboo tablet. Although my first map, Vaniya, was done with a plain old mouse.

I created a set of shaded PNGs using the PS brushes vhailor27 made from your wonderful mountains!

I'm going to try making my first world/regional map soon, and I'm really looking forward to using these!  Thanks so much for sharing them! :)
No problem. And good luck with your map. Although I'm pretty sure you will have finished it by now as you posted this MONTHS ago. :)

Thank you. :)  Actually... I got a bit sidetracked with other things, so I still haven't quite finished it.  It still needs labels.  Heh. :P
Hello I am interested in if you could make a map that I may be able to use in the book I'm writing . If you need more info please contact me at
I love your maps. May I ask if you have a tutorial for your style, I'd love to incorporate some of your style.
Hey there. I'm afraid I don't have a tutorial for my style right now. I've toyed around with the idea of doing one but honestly, I really don't know how I would fill it. If you saw my actual process for doing stuff you would cringe. :)
I did put a mini-tut up on the Cartographer's Guild forum for hills and you can download the program I wrote - TreeThing - from there for helping with forests.
Other than that I would recommend Jezelf's mapping tutorials (which you can also find on the CG forum). I used them as my way in to mapping and I still use some of his processes.
Thanks for that, I will looke up Jezelf's tutorials.
