Sapience

This was a commission I completed recently for an upcoming LARP company called Legacy. Find their website at: [link]

It was drawn in Photoshop CS using a Wacom Bamboo tablet.

As always, big thanks to Coyotemax for his paper textures.

I am in love with the way you do your forests on your maps. Did you make a brush for it or do you paint it out every time? I would be very interested in a tutorial on your process. Your maps are absolutely stunning.

Hey there. Thanks for the compliments.

For my forests I usually use a program I've developed called TreeThing. It uses a bunch of tree brushes you create and then places them randomly according to a template you load in. This gives me the basic layers and I then do a bunch of post editing in Photoshop to get them looking better.
If you're interested in using the program then go to the Cartographer's Guild forum and do a search for it there, although if you use it I'd request you post a link to it in any work you use it for and maybe drop me a link on here so I can check it out. :)

do you happen to have a link to the cartographer's guild forum? would it be compatible with photoshop elements 7.0?

Sorry I never replied to this. Here is a link to the forum: [link]

It is compatible with any image program capable of working with .png files. So yes.

I really like the clarity. in many cases I think colour spoils a map but yours are very, very nice.
